Adventures of Comic Book Girl: Mary Sue, what are you? or why the concept of Sue is sexist

adventuresofcomicbookgirl:

Looks like this essay was needed, so I went ahead and did it. Not sure I said everything I wanted to say, but I tried.

So, there’s this girl. She’s tragically orphaned and richer than anyone on the planet. Every guy she meets falls in love with her, but in between torrid romances she rejects…

‘roly poly’, designed by the design incubation centre at the national university of singapore, are a pair of egg-like objects that mirror each other’s movements, even when physically separated. two people thus can sense each other’s presence despite distances across the world: a tap of one half will create a simultaneous reaction in the other.

I cannot find out how this works, that link does not tell me. This is killing me someone explain.

i got new shoes, and i like them a lot, they are pretty fancy though and i’m unsure if i will be wearing them every day? i was planning on buying a new everyday pair so we will see. gimme fashion advice, they are dark brown but i can wear them with my black jeans right? ignore that i am wearing white socks in this picture i normally wear black socks.

those are sharp as fuck. i think brown & black together is fine, especially since, they’re dark brown, but some people hate that combination so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I am reblogging this because this particular post has good information about corsets.   I am not a corset snob, by any stretch of the imagination, and I think that if you like it, you look good in it, and you want to wear the FUCK out of it, you should get it, but education is never a bad thing.
Understood?   I thought so.

"Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn’t there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who’s to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you’re looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror."

King said in an interview that this photograph was taken as he tried to explain to his daughter Yolanda why she could not go to Funtown, a whites-only amusement park in Atlanta. King claims to have been tongue-tied when speaking to her. “One of the most painful experiences I have ever faced was to see her tears when I told her Funtown was closed to colored children, for I realized the first dark cloud of inferiority had floated into her little mental sky.”
